Day 49: Seeking First His Kingdom (61 days of worry-free devotions)

When I turned my book to Day 49, I was hoping I’d see a topic that would go nicely with Valentine’s Day (when I’m posting this entry). I was hoping the verses would at least use the word love! What did I find? Some of Paul’s words to the Thessalonians.

You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and uprightly and blamelessly we behaved toward you believers; just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

1 Thessalonians 2:10-12

I have to confess, I’d rather hear about how wonderful God’s kingdom is and how Jesus bought our way in than to hear that I need to walk in a certain manner. I’d rather hear how much He loves me!

But why?

do want to walk in a manner worthy of God. After all, God CALLS us into His own kingdom and glory!!! If that doesn’t make me feel LOVED and make me want to walk in a worthy manner I don’t know what would.

What do you think about being called into His kingdom and glory? How does that make you feel? What will be your kingdom statement with which to replace your worries today? Happy Valentine’s Day. God DOES LOVE YOU.
