Day 38: Seeking First His Kingdom (61 days of worry-free devotions)

We’ll go back to Jesus’s words in the next and final section, but first, in days 38-53,  let’s see what some other people in the New Testament said about the kingdom. Even the angel Gabriel mentioned “kingdom” when he appeared to Mary.

And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and His kingdom will have no end.”

Luke 1:30-33

“His kingdom will have no end,” is definitely a recurring theme, and I like how this shows the continuation of the kingdom from the Old Testament. Another thing I like is that this message came to a woman. Some women find it disheartening that they aren’t  represented equally in the Bible. And there may be more stories about men and documented by men. But take heart!  There’s Deborah the judge, and Esther and Abigail who saved many people, and Tabitha (Dorcas) so full of kindness and charity, whom Peter brought back to life, and Anna the prophetess serving in the temple. Jesus spoke lovingly and personally to Martha and her sister Mary, Mary Magdalene, and the woman at the well. And long before women got the vote in America, God sent one of the most important messages in history to a woman:

HIS KINGDOM WILL HAVE NO END

Remember this today any time you find yourself worrying.
